Community Garden Bulletin #1 April 17 2010

Dear Gardeners,
I’ve put you on this email group because I think you’ll want to garden with us in our new plots. (Please tell me if you’d like to be removed) But why wouldn’t you want to come and rub dirty elbows with the rest of us ?? ( even if you're not committed to living here yet...this is a good way to find out if you fit in our village. How can we love you, if you don't come?? :>))

This week’s Schedule...
Complete the roto-tilling, weed-whacking, raking of the garden area . Come any day ...but focus on Tuesday afternoon for a group activity. (Bring kids to play) And stay for dinner if you’d like. (Please give us notice for this ) (We have some rototillers and whackers... bring hand tools and gloves)

Saturday April 24 ...All day Workparty! Finish prep of whole area then divide it into plots. Followed by Bonfire...and Potluck. (Local area pottery studios are open on Saturday, too)

News ...
Sat Apr 17th-- Michael and Soban have started the first area of roto-tilling. Hooray for Michael and Soban! Ideally, they, (we) will continue expanding the area until we’ve done enough for everyone.

The area needs the tough weeds removed and then another tilling. And the next area needs whacking, raking and tilling too. After this, we can divide into plots (of varying sizes to suit differing needs) and pathways. Then you get your assigned plot and can get growing. Speak up if you want a plot!

We aren’t just gardening, don’t you know. We’re village growing too. So let’s work together and have more fun and be more productive. I’m aiming to keep this bulletin going ... I’m thinking I’m a medium, channeling information your way ...a Growing Medium.
If you have seeds/tools/info /questions to share...let me know and I’ll ‘publish’ your offer/request.
And let’s see if a regular schedule of Tuesdays and Saturdays works so we know when to show up if we want to be there for social gatherings too.

Is anyone interested in having a Garage Sale here on May 8th which is district-wide Garage Sale Day ?
